又名水茄苳或細葉棋盤腳，花夜開清晨凋零，氣味濃烈，引誘昆蟲前來授粉。

It blooms at night and the flowers soon wither in the early morning. It has a strong smell to attract insects to pollinate.

臺灣特有種，台語老歌「孤戀花」歌詞中的「水蓮花」即是此種。它是全球萍蓬草屬中，唯一在金黃色花朵內有紅色盤狀柱頭的品種。目前僅桃園極少數池塘有原生族群。基於保育國寶級水生植物的使命，美術館特別保留一片水域作為其生長繁衍的棲地，共同為生態保育而努力。

An endemic species in Taiwan, it is the only species with red disc-shaped stigmas within golden yellow flowers. Currently, it only grows naturally in few ponds in Taoyuan. To conserve this national treasure, Yellow Water Lily, we have specially reserved the water body as its habitat.
